D/O Parvathamma Movie Review [3.5/5]: Milestone movie at its best!
The election hangover is just coming to a close and to help you speed up the process, Sandalwood has a major release this Friday. Starring Haripriya, Sumalatha and Suraj Gowda in lead roles, D/O Parvathamma is directed by debutante Shankar J. This is “Beauty Queen” Haripriya’s 25th movie in Sandalwood and going by the trailer, a feast was promised for her fans and the Kannada audience at the theatres. Let us now find out if the movie actually managed to achieve the feat.
The fans of Kannada audience are used to the commercial star-hero movies which entertain them to the core. D/O Parvathamma falls into this category of cinema but with a gender twist. And the idea works big-time. We are thoroughly entertained and will make us wonder why anything of this sort was made in the past.
Coming to the story, D/O Parvathamma is basically the journey of Vaidehi, a CID officer who starts investigating the death of a doctor and along the process, she also becomes aware of the fact that the case could either be of a murder or suicide. In the midst of this, there is a caring mother who wants her daughter to get settled in life and a triangle love story.
Being her 25th movie, Haripriya has nailed this movie to perfection. She has been picking different characters recently and Vaidehi is an addition to this interesting list. Her terrific screen presence coupled with her acting makes us root for her just like we do for our favourite mass-hero. Sumalathaa plays an important role with ease. The other characters have also done a good job.
Debutante Shankar has done well as a director with D/O Parvathamma. Music is an asset and is also important for a few mass-scenes. Editing is crisp and makes for an engaging watch. Camera-work is in line with the plot of the movie.
Overall, D/O Parvathamma is a film which can be enjoyed by all sections of the audience. It is indeed a perfect watch for this weekend.
